Forgiveness is grace; but, it is not equal to rain (Matt. 5:45). God is explaining his grace (gift of life, not eternal life) in that verse. But, forgiveness IS NOT like rain! Some partially quote Oswald with:”Forgiveness is the divine miracle of grace”. Preachers use Bible verses in the same way with expository teaching and it makes the statement wrong! “The cost to God was the Cross of Christ”! That is the other part of his quote that MUST GO WITH IT. Without it, it SAYS THE WRONG THING!
That my Christian friend is why I take so much time in commenting and writing about subjects here. Expository preaching is about all we hear in church. Subtracting words (not using the synergy of scripture and PTN [prophetic theological narration which requires the whole Bible] damages the truth!!
Forgiveness COSTS!
RAIN DOES NOT!
Forgiveness IS NOT given out like rain!
Forgiveness requires REPENTANCE!
Preaching half the truth just isn’t right, I am sorry. But, the world continues to DEMAND LOVE while they HATE GOD! IT IS NOT GOING TO RAIN GRACIOUS FORGIVENESS ON THEIR HEADS!
