Another example of reading more into scripture is understanding “type” and “antitype” references. Abraham is a type of Jesus. Thus it is more important to see Abraham as a “vessel” or “type” of what the bible is about; after all the bible and the story of Abraham is NOT about him. You and I must live our lives in like manner. Now in Hebrews, one might misunderstand Abraham’s story about his Holy Land that he is being lead by God to reside in. Is it a physical land? Yes, but the spiritual man needs to recieve the spiritual meaning not as the worldly man would read the story.
So in Hebrews 3&4, the Holy Land is a place that provides a spiritual man with spiritual rest. The land is therefore NOT the focus but the Lord is the focus of the land.
Now read Hebrews 11:10 & Matt. 5:5 & Rev. 21:2 and search spiritually as your spiritual father would write you and not as God would write a lost man.
