There is a cliche that says, “you are what you eat”. Does it mean that if you eat chicken you will turn into a chicken? No!
It means do not eat junk food like candy or you will be a sweet little weakling.
So what does it mean when the High Priest eats the trespass offering and the sin offering? If you believe the literal meaning of the first cliche that you would turn into a chicken then the High Priest would become a sinner from eating the 2 sin offerings!
But, it also has a completely different meaning!
It means the High Priest eats the 2 sin offerings ( the offering for your unknown sins and those you confess) and absorbs it; as he is the only one able to consume sin with IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS (Romans 3:21,22;10:3: Philippians 3:9; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 1:30: Rom. 4:24). Oh, the High Priest is REPRESENTING (a type of Jesus) Jesus and he thus did not turn into a chicken or “TOOK ON SIN” AT THE CROSS ( 1 Peter 2:24 IS NOT LITERAL; Isaiah 53:4: Matthew 8:17)!! Galatians 10:3 “…..being made a curse for us:…”, this verse like so many others STARTS AT VERSE 1 of the chapter! Read how Paul is telling them that Abraham was saved by Christ. Then he talks about “the law” and how it is going to be Christ that saves you or you could do the stupid thing of going back to the law which is not sufficient and impossible. Paul says that Christ redeemed them from the “curse of the law” (what kept them in bondage) and then he says “being made a curse for us”(again “us” is not you and I but Paul and the other Jews he is addressing in his letter). So, if you do not understand what the first part of the sentence and chapter means, then do not attempt to further interpret incorrectly the second part as if it had no part in the whole chapter of discernment! Because the truth of the first part is referencing God’s promise to Abraham; it gives them no right to think that their salvation is by inheritance (circumcision)! Paul explains that Abraham understood that the “promise of his seed to continue” is a work of faith (check out the fact that an angel was sent to kill Abraham for not circumcising his son but Sarah saved him of being killed-all as God commanded him to do it as a testimony and thus God would have made an example out of the very one leading them into a huge stumbling situation).
Paul told the crazy Galatians and also the Colossians that the law was ONLY given as a prelude to understand what “was coming” (Christ). When reading the first part of the chapter of Galatians 10 you should recognize Paul is warning them that the Law (The Law of Moses-not the Ten Commandments-kept them in bondage as Christ has now given them freedom from the required Jewish requirements which God had told them from the beginning was going only to be temporary and God found the ritual sacrifices becoming a waste of time/hypocritical -Micah 6:6-8 ). Paul tells them that the burnt sacrifices and the temple ritual stuff was over because Christ came and ended it both! Christ offered up himself as the only worthy offering that could replace the “once for all” sin for the “once for all” offering; and he would be their new covenant/ both in sacrifice and temple/church (Hebrews 8:10 thus the bondage of those Jewish traditions or bondage became freedom by Hebrews 13:15-16: Philippians 4:8; 1 Peter 2:5). So the Jewish law was to be a testimony for the testator (Jesus) to come or rather having “faith also in Christ” which abolished the Jewish customs (Jewish law of temple burnt offerings).
If you think Jesus did somehow come equal to a 1 eyed, three legged ram, with spots, disease and a pig’s tail- which would be a much better quality of a sacrifice than Jesus with my Filthy Rag Wretched sins smeared all over him, well remember this GIF (because you might be a cool dude like this chicken looks; but your CLUCKING NUTS!!). God always demanded the best/first of his children as a sacrifice (Read Genesis and what stupid thing Cain tried to do). Why in the world would God all of a sudden allow a filthy piece of crap worthy of a burnt offering when never before?
