How did everybody on the planet who has ever lived learn the bible? When was the bible cannonized? When was the original writings translated? Do you speak Hebrew or Latin? Think hard; you could say the English KJV was actually around the middle of the 16th century; that just so happens to be when the printing press was invented!
So, what about everybody before a really affordable copy of the bible could have been in someone’s home?
That is approximately 5600 years from Adam’s first son to learn the bible. Do you think God denied Cain and Abel? You would be so wrong! That is a massive amount of uneducated Christians being denied the word of God verses you and me. Or was it?
No! God started in Genesis 1 with how the bible was to be told; but, for some reason humans have changed God’s way to some theological professor’s way, while making money, to be a form like translating Hebrew into English. When a person speaks a different language interpreters take parts of sentences and change them as close as possible to the other. The Hebrew language is so ironically different and yet very similar to the cliche, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Some Hebrew single words can take many sentences to convert to english. Likewise God used “PICTURE” style communication. Why? He choose to and there were no printing presses or even writers for a long time. As a matter of fact it was after the flood before the writing started. Then the history of writing will show it was very difficult. Look at the hieroglyphics by the Egyptians. King after king was crazy bent on telling about his great work during his reign for the present people living and those after he died.
The point of all this is for you to recognize “story telling” is how God devised bible telling. The law, (both the Ten Commandments and the Moses Law), the prophetic prophets telling stories, and the Psalms were all ways God devised to tell His story. Then the apostles came and they started writing down personal testimonies about Jesus, God in the flesh. What separates every religion from the rest? Is it the story about Jesus? Yes and No! Every culture took the same story of the Garden of Eden, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and everything in between and twisted those stories to fit into some “KING/POPULAR GUY’S PERVERTED WAY FOR FAME, MONEY, WOMEN OR ALL THE ABOVE JUST LIKE SATAN!
Look at the Muslims, the Jews, the Hindus, the Mormons, or others, what is different about them to you as an American English speaking Jesus follower? Do you know? Do you know why?
The simple story is changing a “PICTURE”! Most preachers start on a rant about Jesus, the prophet, and Mohammed the prophet and so on, but totally missing the oasis in the wilderness of scripture told us both. It was the story about a father and son! Muslims immediately jump on Ishmael verses Isaac in their explanation! But THEY MISSED THE PICTURE!
This is EXACTLY what preachers keep doing today! They were taught to deep study the bible you need 16 concordances and you have to learn HEBREW and LATIN! Then they want to use their COLLEGE DIPLOMA to be the best possible discerning person in the room (after all they are getting paid, and some very handsomely). Well, why do they think that just because tbey had to learn the professor’s way to pass his class supersedes God’s way to understand the scriptures?
Hebrews 9 explains exactly how to understand the entire bible! It is not recognizing “WHICH SON OF ABRAHAM” is correct! It is RECOGNIZING IT IS ABOUT A FATHER AND SON (frankly which son doesn’t matter)! It is the story about Abraham (a type of God in other words a representation of God in a human form to tell a story as a testimony) taking his son (another type of God in other words representing a human to communicate a story that the “Law”, “the prophets”, and “the Psalms” all were prophesied about to come) and giving him as the final sacrifice as mentioned in
GENESIS 1!!!!! YES GENESIS 1!!!!!
Read it again: GENESIS 1!!!!
Some people immediately think I am referring to parables but I am not! The disciples did not understand parables! Typology is what God gave us from the begining!!!!!!! You will never be able to interpret a parable without using the principles of Typology!!!
If you care to learn how to read and discern scripture put those college books BACK ON THE SHELF and pick up a little laminated set of note cards called L.I.G.H.T.S. (“Reading the bible for all its worth” by Hank Hinegraaff)!
Stay tuned for more lessons. Genesis 1 lesson is coming.
