Mark 5
The parable of Jesus casting the swine into the sea.
Jesus did not cast them.
The demons asked permission NOT to be cast out; literally out of the country ( more about this statement later).
The demons asked permission to be allowed to possess the swine and GOD AGREED! WHY?
In chapter 1 of Mark he would not let the demons speak. Why? But here he let’s them. Why? Jesus is going to let the demons do Jesus’ will is why.
MEAT was a wealthy man’s meal during that time period! How many sheep or pigs would one family own?
Like cattle, shepherds sometimes tended to herds owned by many.
These pigs did not belong to one townsperson.
Jesus is telling this parable. Do you see Jesus in the parable?
It seems so obvious that most just take the fact he is telling it means he is in the story. It does not!
Jesus is telling a story about JESUS!!!
WHERE IS JESUS IN THE STORY ABOUT THE SWINE?
Jesus has since the begining of the book of Mark in chapter 1 revealing characteristics about himself ( his diety, his power, his authority, his love and now his mission).
Jesus allows the leader of the demons to answer and calls himself “Legion”(numerically in Roman terms meant 4,000 to 5,000 trained warriors). Jesus tells the many demons to come out of the man. Jesus allows the demons “to stay in the country”(called Deca-polis- Greek for “ten” “cities”).
Jesus tells all the demons to get out of the man and the enter 2,000 swine.
These swine run off the cliff on the east side of the Galiean Sea. These swine are bashed down the side of the mountain and all drown according to Mark.
This man follows Jesus’ instructions and goes to tell all the people of Decapolis.
These people all ask Jesus to leave! What has he done?
The interesting part of this story is taken as a huge economic loss for the hundreds of people who own the swine and must be most definitely scared of Jesus killing more swine.
That is a great interpretation that seems very sensible.
However, the spiritual interpretation requires the Holy Spirit.
Can you imagine Jesus walking into an NFL stadium during a national football game and handing out free beer by simply pulling them out of a small paper bag? If he gave away thousands of free beers the security and NFL would ban him from all games permanently!
These people do not want him to leave as if handing out free beer! These people want Jesus to leave because he is, in a word picture, telling everybody that the NFL should be abolished and all beer drinking on the planet!
Jesus is not healing this man physically but spiritually; his physical state becomes well because of his spiritual state becoming healed!
This entire story Jesus is telling is about his sacrifice on the cross to come! Since Genesis, it has been explained to everyone that a blood sacrifice must be made to satisfy God.
It is a blood sacrifice that is required to save a soul!
The swine become a BLOOD SACRIFICE!
The demons asked to enter the swine and they absolutely just became enemies of their own god. Jesus was called a devil and explained he could not go against his own mission or Satan’s house would be torn down!
Jesus just proved his statement was true right before their eyes!
The demons provided the blood sacrifice for the man to be freed from Satan!
SATAN’S KINGDOM IS GOING TO BE DESTROYED! GOD IS CONSTANTLY USING THE WORK OF THE DEVIL FOR HIS PURPOSE AND HIS GLORY!
The stupid demons, ALL OF THEM ARE GOING TO VOLUNTARILY IN THE SAME MANNER RUN OFF INTO THE PIT!!!!!!!
THEY WON’T EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON; BUT, THEY WILL FLEE FROM ALL OF US! IT WILL BE BETTER IF THEY RUN LIKE CRAZY BECAUSE THE WRATH OF GOD THEY HAVE NOT SEEN YET!!!!!!
Think of Pharoah, narrating Satan, he does the same stupid thing! He just let the Isrealites go into the wilderness and surviving God’s wrath isn’t good enough! So, he leads all the other swine into a charge which is straight into the bottom of a sea ALSO!!!!!!!
Think of Jehosophat, all those nuts “started killing each other you know”( Don Francisco: “Great Jumping Jehosophat).
Think about the Isrealites as they all March out into the wilderness! How many of them cross the Jordan(Prophetic Typological Narration) of HEAVEN ( in heaven not on earth)? Only two!!! So, do you see it? Who would the Isrealites be narrating if only two people ( who were not even chosen Jews) entered heaven? ANSWER: THEY ARE NARRATING ME AND HOPEFULLY YOU!!!! They didn’t know it; but, THEY WERE!!!!!!
THOSE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DID NOT BELIEVE; BUT, they fulfilled the prophecy by narrating the ISREALITES INDEED ( every one of us no matter what time born on earth!)!!!!!!
Amen.Amen. Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, the reason Jesus used 2,000 swine was NOT due to the man’s supposedly enormous amount of faults ( as one would claim is why a “Legion” of demons possessed just one man). Jesus used the entire herd of swine(probably every pig owned by the townspeople) to demonstrate the COSTS GOD HAS TO PAY FOR ONE SOUL!!! (his only begotten Son who never sinned)!
